Hello Roman,
I've noticed that you use Norsat 4206 LNB recently. Could you tell what is difference in signal quality compared
to previous WDL digital you had for reference?
Secondary I managed to borrow SMW WDL Digital Type E, actualy it is SMW Quattro, as under plastic cover there
were 2x WDL digital + SMW OMT with golden ring and 90o smw elbow. Today I did quick test before i departed to
work on Channel Master 243 pointing at Thor 5, Transponder 11229 H - the weakest frequency here in south.
SMW Q-PLL (gain 56, noise 0.8 ).....................C/N = 11.9 dBi
SMW WDL (gain 52, noise 0.8 )........................C/N = 12.2 dBi
Invacom QDF-031 (gain 58, noise 0.3 )..........C/N = 12.5 dBi
Later on I will make photos and I prepare to publish comparison review on fringe satellite.
Kind Regards - Primož

- Answer to question nr. 1 :
.
Dear Mr. Primož ,
Glad to hear you again and thank you for By sending the results of quality measurement.
Here are the answers to your questions :
Norsat converter advantages compared to SMW WDL.
Measuring the quality of reception resulting from satellites Insat 4B at 93.5°E I carried on these two pieces :
DRO-SMW WDL Digital Type E: s/n=06100031 ___ DRO Norsat 4206 CF: s/n=0802-N20074-309850
purchase price : 360 EUR purchase price : 147 EUR
a, greatly improved transmission characteristics in the range of frequency spectrum from 11 450 to 1 750 MHz.
Spectrum analysis has confirmed to me that the converter SMW WDL processes these two carriers > C1=11 490 V
and C2=11 570 V with significant distorted in the course of the spectrum/distortion characteristics saddle.
b, significantly less interference on the transmission carrier with the highest error rate BER.To the specific carrier
in the frequency range of satellite Insat 4B at 93.5°E > DD Direct+ networks 11 490 V + 11 570 V I measured
a significant decrease in error rate from level Ch BER=5>8 x 10-3 to a lower level Ch BER=3>6 x 10-4 ! If I had to make
the difference in unit-MER, then I have these two carrier with the highest error rate achieved an increase in the average
quality up to MER=2 dB.

Insat 4B at 93.5°E - Indian footprint : measurements taken in the town of Lučenec / central Slovakia
geographical location : Latitude: 48.33° _ Longitude: 19.72°
measurement results are derived from the 3.7 m diameter antenna
elevation angle : 2.0°
Norsat 4206 CF : complete range of vertical vector SMW WDL Digital E : complete range of vertical vector
cable length is 40 m cable length is only 5 m
SMW WDL Digital E : complete range of vertical vector
cable length is 40 m
. c, significantly greater gain in measured amplitude signal :
indication on the label : SMW WDL Digital Type E: Gain=52 dB +/- 4 dB + Norsat 4206 CF: Gain=60+ dB
measurement results : WDL C1 at 11 675 MHz average POW-V level=400 uV > Norsat C1 at 11 675 MHz average POW-V
level=1200 uV.The length of the cable over 50 meters this is an important difference in the ratio .
d, oscillator circuit and the dielectric resonator has a much higher qualitative factor :
DRO 1 > SMW WDL Digital Type E: LOF stability +/- 1.5 MHz/T
DRO 2 > Norsat 4206 CF: LOF stability +/- 250 kHz/T
These are just the basic differences

- TEXT questions No.2 :
Hello Roman,
Thank you very much for the new reference faktor of Norsat. I am looking forward to 4206A for starter, it's already in
delivery for 1 week from USA.I see that Norsat have A B C - 3 bands (Middle Lo Hi) concept. How unusual, but americaner
must always be something special.
I am also thrilled of my future results with new Prodelin 3.7 - i.e. gain figure. I red many posts about it and i know that is
very delicate in perfect reflector assembly because of many segments.Do you have your own tips & hints on 8 segment
reflector assembly? Do you have any signal strenght deviation with so big antenna as 3.7 m because of very narrow beam
and satellite movements over time/day?
Have a nice weekend,Primož

- Answer to question nr. 2 :
Dear Mr. Primož ,
I have little time but here are the answers to your questions :
Q1 > I red many posts about it and i know that is very delicate in perfect reflector assembly because of many segments.
Do you have your own tips & hints on 8 segment reflector assembly?
A1 > This is totally nonsense , prodelin antenna is pressed to an accuracy of about 0.3 mm ! This stuff can claim only an
amateur who does not understand this issue at all .Material reflector antenna is made of extremely hard material - Glass
FIBER SMC,which guarantees the stability of the shaped reflector antenna for the lifetime .(this is not a chinese segments
of soft aluminum AL !)
Q 2 > Do you have any signal strenght deviation with so big antenna as 3.7 m because of very narrow beam and satellite
movements over time/day?
A2 > This is more nonsense spread by the network as they NOT-educated amateurs !
Real problems with achieving gains equivalent to the diameter of the antenna set up from the average of D=500 cm above
and only in KU band .370 cm diameter antenna is essentially a small diameter !
I wish you a pleasant weekend Primož
